KCR Congratulates Book On Silent Cinema Author For National Film Award. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao congratulated Pasupuleti Purna Chandra Rao, theatre and cinema scholar and activist, for bagging the National Award for Best Book on Cinema for his book “Silent Cinema (1895-1930)” for the year 2014.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao congratulated Pasupuleti Purna Chandra Rao, theatre and cinema scholar and activist, for bagging the National Award for Best Book on Cinema for his book “Silent Cinema (1895-1930)” for the year 2014.

P Purnachandra Rao will receive the award from the President of India on May 3, 2015 at Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The award entailed cash prize of Rs. 75, 000 and Swarnakamalam. National Film award for Best Book on Cinema is one of the National Film awards presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Pasupuleti Purna Chandra Rao, a native of Khammam is an Indian film journalist, editor and critic. At the 62nd National Film Awards the book Silent Cinema tells about how cinema started in 1895 in France and how it slowly flourished globally. The book also talks about the Indian Cinema, since its inception to the present. Many celebrities from Tollywood were all praise for the the author’s work which showcased the four decades of world cinema.
