Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi is likely to initiate the process of filling up nominated posts from Ugadi and complete the exercise before the party’s formation day on April 27 with most of the senior MLAs top in the priority list. The nominated posts have been eluding TRS leaders and cadre in the state who have been looking for posts since the formation of government in the State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, during the party’s meeting with MPs and MLAs had assured to fill nominated posts during the Assembly session. However, the Chief Minister did not take any decision and sources in the party said that the announcement may take place after Ugadi, the Telugu New Year Day.

The Chief Minister had said that there were 4,000 odd nominated posts to be filled up in the State. The nominated posts include posts like libraries committees, market committees, temple committees and other important posts like RTC, IIDC, Housing, HUDA, sports authority and others. The party’s plenary would be held in Khammam on April 27 and the Chief Minister would fill the posts before that as promised, said a senior TRS leader.

Sources said that the party would give preference to the MLAs in the nominated posts. The Chief Minister had promised ministers posts to some leaders before the expansion of the cabinet but could not do so because he cannot have more than 18 ministers in the government as per the strength of the Assembly.

The Chief Minister had started the posts of Parliamentary Secretaries to six members but withdrew after the High Court questioned the appointments. Since then there have been no appointments by the government. It was earlier thought to make appointments during Dasara festival but elections to various municipal corporations resulted postponement of the process.

According to sources, the name of K Vidyasagar Rao was doing rounds for the post of the chairman of TSRTC. Husnabad MLA V Satish Kumar’s name is being considered for the Brahmin corporation, senior leader K Manohar Reddy is likely to be made the chairman of sports authority of Telangana, MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao is likely to be made chairman of horticulture, Guvvala Balraj’s name is doing rounds for the post of chairman of civil supplies corporation, Rathod Bapu Rao for the ST Corporation. The name of MLA Veeresh is doing for the post of Housing corporation, said sources.

The Chief Minister had filled some of the posts earlier including the post of chairman of SC Corporation appointing Pedamarti Ravi, Pervaram Ramulu as chairman of Tourism Corporation and Rasmai Balkishan as chairman of Telangana Samskruta Saradhi. The leaders are hoping that this time they would be lucky with the New Year coming.
