Hyderabad: Work in lower courts is likely to be affected from Monday onwards in the State as the Bar Associations have given a call for boycott of courts. The Bar Associations have given the call for boycott of court in protest against judges of Andhra Pradesh origin opting for postings in Telangana State.

Judicial employees and Law officers have also decided to participate in the agitation by wearing black badges during lunch hour. A “Chalo High Court” programme will be held on June 13. The Bar Association of High Court and all Districts of Telangana, Telangana Advocates JAC, Telangana Judges Association, Telangana State Judicial Employees Association and Telangana Law Officers Association at their joint meeting here on Sunday took the decision to launch the agitation.

It may be recalled that the High Court after receiving the option forms from judges made the provisional allocation. Around 119 judges of Andhra Pradesh origin had opted to serve in Telangana State. As the cadre strength of district judges of the then united state was 234, Telangana was to be allocated 94 district judges and AP 140 as per 40:60 ratio.

However, the HC allocated only 84 district judges to AP by keeping 46 vacancies, while allocating 102 district judges to Telangana State in excess to sanctioned strength of 94 posts. Out of the 102 judges allocated, 72 are from AP region and only 30 are natives of Telangana State.

The joint meeting also resolved to write to High Court at Hyderabad seeking permission for applying mass casual leave by the judicial employees from a date to be decided in future. All the associations will decide on further course of action after reviewing the progress on 13th June.
