Karimnagar: Minister for Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said the government is committed to uplift the lives of farmers. Inaugurating Horticulture Polytechnic building complex worth Rs 1.05 crore and Krishi Vignana Kendra building worth Rs 95 crore at Ratnagiri village under Kamanpur mandal on Saturday,

the Minister said the government will provide 100 per cent subsidy to dalit farmers, who take up the construction of poly houses for faring. These farmers will also get 100 per cent subsidy for tractors, he added.

“The government will appoint an assistant director (agriculture) each to all Assembly constituencies in the State, besides providing an agriculture officer for each mandal and an extension officer to each 5,000 acres to assist the farming community,” Reddy said.

He urged the farmers not to take up cultivation of cotton with the Central government is not willing to increase the minimum support price (MSP). Instead the farmers should go for alternative crops such as soya, maize and red gram, he advised. While pointing to the ill-effects of using chemicals, he advised the farmers to go for organic farming.
