Adilabad: Heavy rains have lashed the district from Monday onwards inundating the town at several places with streams and rivulets overflowing. The low lying areas have been totally inundated. As a result, the temporary bridge, constructed on the Palavagu stream at Kotapalli mandal in the district was washed away, thus, disrupting the traffic causing lot of hardships to the commuters.

The incessant rains also disrupted the power supply in Bellampalli constituency of Tandur and Gemini mandals in thje district causing immense hardships to the people.

Transport services were severely affected in 18 villages of Bejjuru mandal when the Kukuda stream overflowed and inundated them.

Heavy rains also lashed Mudhol, Bellampalli, Khanapur and Bodh constituencies inundating the agricultural fields. Transport services was badly hit in Mukrake village of Ichhoda mandal when rain water overflowed on the bridge and 10 houses were damaged in Tanur and Kabir mandals.

Farmers who were an extremely worried lot over the last 15 days when there was no sign of rains, are jubilant with the bountiful rains as they could cultivate their crops without difficulty.

The Revenue department officials are also examining the problems faced by people in the low lying areas and the relief measures that have to be taken.
