Kuntala’s beauty beguiles tourists
The most picturesque waterfalls in Telangana State–the magnificent Kuntala falls – has claimed lives of 45 in 33 incidents since 1997. This is attributed to lack of adequate security measures near the tourist spot.

The tourists have been demanding the authorities to step up security measures near the water falls.
Normally, the drowning accidents take place when enthusiastic tourists, mostly youth, go close to the waterfalls to take bath and to capture selfies and get their group photos clicked. In the process, they are tripping and falling into the swirling waters.
A youth of Adilabad Rajender appeals to authorities to appoint a security guard near the tourist spot. He suggested replacing the iron rods installed near the waterfalls with iron mesh work to prevent accidents. He suggested establishing barricades near the waterfalls.
Youth consuming alcohol near the waterfalls is a routine affair. The lone security guard near the waterfalls is not able to control the unruly youth after consuming alcohol going very close to swirling waters.
Moreover the tourists have been demanding that the authorities should increase the number of expert swimmers deployed near the waterfalls. The tourists have been urging the Forest Department officials to take precautions rather than becoming alert after an accident.
