Hyderabad: A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice AV Sesha Sai on Tuesday suspended the order of the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University in disaffiliating the Varaha College of Architecture on the ground that it was located outside the state of Telangana.

The management had challenged the said action as being contrary to the provisions of the AP Reorganization Act 2014. The petitioner pointed out that the college was listed at Item 56 of Schedule 10.

Sivaraju Srinivas, counsel for the college pointed out that the law provided that the facilities and services in the institution were bound to be extended to both states until a decision in this regard is taken in consonance by the sibling states within a year of the Central Government thereafter.

The impugned action, he pointed out, was contrary to Sections 75 and 95 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
