Hyderabad: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Academy of USA Inc, in collaboration with Georgia Southern University and Next Thought, Oklahoma, is organising a conference – STEM, the Global Dream – at Hotel Park Hyatt in Hyderabad on September 13.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari will be the chief guest at the programme. This is part of their conferences being planned across four Indian cities including Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi.

STEM is a registered organisation, which is promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in the third world countries. It is an all American concept which inculcates critical thinking to make modern day innovators.

The academy is represented by three directors Dr Paddy Sharma, Dr Saibaba Arcot and Dr Amitabh Sharma. Four Americans - Prof Robert Mayes and D Lisa Stueve from Georgia Southern University, Kenneth Leo Parker from Next Thought Technologies, Oklahoma and Dr Craig Donell Lockhart from Newton County School system will address the conference. The emcee for this conference is Bollywood actor Ash Chandler.

“This is President Obama’s pet project, which has been introduced in his last term five years ago. Most of the schools and colleges in the US run on this platform. All the four core areas are thoroughly integrated and taught in small modules to students connecting to the real world.

This education eliminates the boring lecture methods and practices ‘hands-on activities’ along with project-based learning. STEM inculcates critical thinking and makes modern day innovators at a very young age. Our Prime Minster Modi is also going big time on it,” said Arcot.

“I, along with Dr Paddy Sharma and Dr Amitabh Sharma mooted the idea of spreading the STEM education into third world countries to make global citizens, especially to achieve the American dream,” said Arcot, who is the Director of STEM Academy of USA Inc.
