Warangal: The Swayambhu Sri Swetharkamoola Ganapathi Temple, situated at Vishnupuri Colony in Kazipet, is attracting thousands of devotees with its unique feature of producing musical notes when the idols of the temple are struck with any metal object like a coin. According to Inavolu Anantha Mallaiah Sharma, who built the temple, the idols are made with ‘Amrutashila’, a unique stone found at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu and produces music when struck with a metal object.

Speaking to The Hans India, Mallaiah Sharma said this was the only temple with self-manifested (Swayambhu) Lord Ganesha existing in Telangana state. “A spiritual awakening has dawned on me while I was at the Kanipakam Ganapathi temple around 20 years ago. After returning from Kanipakam, I started serving as priest at Sai Baba Temple near Kazipet railway station. On April 20, 1999 I had a dream. Lord Ganesha appeared as ‘Swetharkamoola Ganapathi’ at the residence of Mada Prabhakara Sharma of Nalgonda town,” Mallaiah Sharma recalled.

Following the dream, he visited Nalgonda and obtained the Lord Ganesha idol which was at the root of a ‘Tella Jilledu’ plant (Calotropis Gigantea-Swetha Arka in Sanskrit) and built the temple at Vishnupuri in 2009. In the presence of five senior seers from different parts of the country, the Swayambhu Sri Swetharkamoola Ganapathi Temple was consecrated and a silver armour to the idol was fixed.

The three-storeyed temple, built in Odia architectural style, also houses temples of all most all the Hindu deities. In a unique manner, Goddess Saraswati is found in gyana mudra while Lord Anjaneya is found in yoga mudra here. “The temple has got its own webcasting facility and radio. All the events at the temple are webcast daily catering to nearly 12,000 devotees,” Sharma informed. “There are numerous testimonies from the devotees whose wishes were fulfilled after visiting the temple,” Sharma said. Cinema shootings also take place here, he informed.
