Huzurabad: Finance Minister Eatala Rajender expressed confidence that Karimnagar district would soon become drought-free with various developmental activities taken up by the government after the party came to power.

After laying foundation for five four-lane roads costing Rs 193 crore here on Sunday, the Minister said that the district got the highest allocation of funds for laying roads and that four-lane roads would be constructed on par with the National Highways.

Addressing a public meeting later, Eatala said he was very much indebted to the people of the constituency for their support and assured them that he would reciprocate the same.

The Chief Minister’s brain-child, Medigadda project would turn the district green and drought would be a history, he said.Rajender said that drinking water would be provided to each household in all villages of the constituency by next year. He criticised the previous Chief Ministers of the undivided State for not paying heed to the region when funds had been requested for developmental activities.

The Minister handed over insurance claims to a few families who lost their lives in various accidents in the recent past. Lok Sabha Member Vinod and Rajya Sabha Member Captain Lakshmikantha Rao accompanied him throughout the tour.
