Telangana Joint Action (TJAC) chairman Prof M Kodandaram took objection to the state government's rush in the formation of 17 new districts. Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Sunday, Prof. Kodandaram stated that the government has taken a hasty decision as the plan of new districts should have been presented to the public to get their opinion before heading towards the formation.

Calling the decision to form new districts as unjust as there is no consideration of the public, he further advised the Telangana government to stop the process of formation of new districts. While he stated that the Telangana Political JAC is welcoming the step, Kondaram also suggested that a clear-cut mechanism should be evolved for the purpose since the act made for the formation of districts is outdated in the present day context.

Kondaram added that a committee should be set up to take in public opinion, considering which the decision needs to be taken.
