Beedi workers hold dharna in Nizamabad
Large number of beedi workers of the Telangana Beedi Cigars Association Workers Union sat on a dharna under the aegis of the CITU at the dubba in the town on Thursday demanding the release of their salary arrears pending for the last five months.
Nizamabad: Large number of beedi workers of the Telangana Beedi Cigars Association Workers Union sat on a dharna under the aegis of the CITU at the dubba in the town on Thursday demanding the release of their salary arrears pending for the last five months.
They were employed in the Kommudachap beedi company in the town. Speaking to the media, the workers said that their families were facing immense hardships as they did not receive their salaries for several months.
It has become difficult for them in making ends meet, they lamented. They said that their problems compounded after the demonetisation of high valued currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000.
The workers demanded the direct payment in cash instead of crediting their salaries in banks.
