Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said that Mahbubnagar district which was earlier known for migration was now moving towards the direction of development. Government is trying to reverse the trend of migration in the district by providing irrigated water.

Speaking at a function organised to admit Mahbubnagar Municipal Chairperson Radha Amar of Congress party and district TTDP leaders at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, Harish Rao said, Chandrababu Naidu had adopted Mahbubnagar district but did nothing to develop it.

The development process of the district started only after TRS government had come to power. Earlier, Mahbubnagar was well-known for migration, however, the government is reversing the trend by completing irrigation projects on war footing and providing irrigated water to 4.5 lakh hectors.

He said that the chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao wanted the Palamur project to be completed by next year. He reminded of the past times when Mahbubnagar received no development irrespective of Congress and TDP governments in power.

The TRS government had taken up the work on war footing and now water had started flowing into the projects. Lashing at the Congress party, he said while the TRS was trying to complete the irrigation projects on priority basis, the Congress party was creating hurdles.

He further said that efforts were also on to generate employment potential in the state. Harish Rao alleged that few people were doing politics in the name of unemployment and provoking the youth. He said government would provide one lakh jobs to the unemployed youth in the state very soon.
