Congress senior leader and former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Friday condemned donation of Rs 5.5 crore worth of gold jewellery to Tirumala temple by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao drawing from Common Good Fund (CGF). He threatened to approach the High Court against offerings made by the Chief Minister. 

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Friday condemned donation of Rs 5.5 crore worth of gold jewellery to Tirumala temple by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao drawing from Common Good Fund (CGF). He threatened to approach the High Court against offerings made by the Chief Minister.

Speaking to media persons, Shashidhar Reddy said the CGF of Endowments Department should be utilised only for the repairs of old temples in a bad condition. He pointed out that CGF was mobilised from temples having abundant revenue to be spent on temples having low income or no income at all.

He expressed that offering CGF to TTD, one of the richest temples in the world was illegal.The Congress leader alleged the TRS government was bent on suppressing the freedom of expression by shifting ‘Dharna Chowk’ to city's outskirts.
