Hyderabad: Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy on Monday said that 17 out-post fire stations in the state would be soon converted into regular fire stations.

Giving a clarification on the initiatives being taken by the state government during question hour in the Assembly, he said that necessary steps have been taken to acquire lands for new fire stations. The new fire stations are in addition to the 96 fire stations functioning in the state, the Minister said. As part of the initiative, 17 out-post fire stations will be converted into full-fledged fire stations and 15 new fire stations would be opened.

The government has distributed 121 motor cycles, equipped with fire fighting equipment, to minimise the time taken by the fire fighters in reaching the accident spots in the urban areas. The climate based fire water mist system mounted on the motor cycles is fitted with 10 litre mist equipment.
