Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly is all set to pass the bill providing 12% reservations to the Muslims and 10% to the STs during its special sitting on Sunday.
The state Cabinet, which met at Pragathi Bhavan here on Saturday, also decided to increase the DA for the government employees by 3.66 per cent, hike in ex-gratia to the fishermen community in accidental deaths, release of water from Kaleshwaram and gave its nod for the Tummilla Lift Scheme to stabilise ayacut under the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme besides finalizing the Mid Manair project.
It may be mentioned here the Cabinet approved the increase of the reservations based on the recommendations made by the state BC Commission which conducted a field study on the Sudhir Commission report and Chellappa Commission report on the increase of ST reservations in proportion to the population in the state. Sources said that Valmiki Boyalu and Kayitha Lambadas would also be brought under the ST category.
