‘Surmandal’ organised a morning recital of Hindustani classical music at Secunderabad Club Sailing Annexe as a tribute to ‘Gaana Saraswati’ Kishori Amonkar.
‘Surmandal’ organised a morning recital of Hindustani classical music at Secunderabad Club Sailing Annexe as a tribute to ‘Gaana Saraswati’ Kishori Amonkar. Well-known Hindustani vocalist Dr Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande performed and the event and started her programme with Raga Bahaduri Todi, a morning raga with the composition 'Yeh Mahadeva Devana Parvati Pate’.
She especially chose this composition as she herself had heard Kishori Amonkar singing this on many occasions. One could see the beautiful patterns of ‘Swaras’ reminding the listener of the Jaipur Atrauli Gharana style and also the doyen of classical music Kishori Amonkar. Ashwini Bhide followed with ‘Kavan batariya gailo mai’ in Raga Alhaiya Bilawal.
She went on to sing a Meera Bhajan and concluded the concert with ‘Mharo Pranam’, the song which every listener looked forward to hearing from the legendary Kishori Amonkar. Ashwini Bhide was accompanied on the Tabla by Yati Bhagwat and on the Harmonium by Siddesh Bicholkar. Film director K Vishwanath of ‘Sankarabharanam’ fame, felicitated the artiste on the occasion.
