GHMC has been taking down against hotels which are not complying with the norms of the Food Safety Standards Act 2006, during the month of Ramadan.

Collaborating with the health and sanitation wing, police, veterinary doctors, officials of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), GHMC issued a statement asking the hotels to maintain proper hygiene and take precautionary measures while preparing haleem.

Since it's crackdown on April 3rd, GHMC has inspected 354 hotels, out of which 198 were found to be violating norms for which fine was imposed. The hotels were found to be using stale food and unstamped meat in cooking apart from the unhygienic kitchens and Rs 16.5 lakh fine was imposed.
