Khammam: Telugu Desam working president in Telangana A Revanth Reddy has said that it's time for the people to ponder over what was happening in the State, especially after their dream of separate Telangana was fulfilled.Addressing a huge gathering during his one-day protest here on Saturday, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family members are the only major beneficiaries in the State after the formation of Telangana.

"KCR is capable of earning Rs 1 crore per acre through agriculture, KTR sold ice-cream for Rs 7.5 lakh, T Harish Rao and K Kavitha also made lakhs of rupees within minutes towards their party's plenary expenditure, then why didn't they come to the rescue of the chilli farmers to help them to fetch remunerative price to their produce," he ridiculed.

He criticised the government for closing market yard for three days before April 28. This has made farmers to make a beeline to Khammam market yard with nearly 1.5 lakh chilli bags. Taking advantage of this, the traders offered a meagre price to farmers. Enraged by this, farmers revolted, he said. He alleged that the government remained a mute spectator when the traders were exploiting the farmers. Taking a dig at Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswar Rao, Reddy said that Tummala who enjoyed party posts during the TDP rule had ignored the ideals of party founder NT Rama Rao.

Referring to the Tummala's comments that those arrested in connection with the cases of ransacking of Khammam market yard are not farmers, Reddy demanded him to tender his apologies to farmers. TRS government which has extended support to the film makers of Rudrama Devi, Goutami Putra Satakarni and Bahubali-2 has not moved by the plight of farmers, who have been struggling to get remunerative price to red gram, chilli and turmeric etc.

Stating that KCR is a master at manipulation, Reddy said: "Be it farmers fora, student leaders or employee associations, KCR has knack of managing the people." Sathupally MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, TDP State general secretary Sitakka, district president Tulluri Brahmaiah and MB Swarna Kumari were among the leaders who participated in the protest. Meanwhile, Aitham Satyam (Congress), Left party leaders Bagam Hemanth Rao (CPI), Ponnam Venkateswara Rao (CPM) and representatives of various farmers’ associations extended their support to TDP's protest.
