In what can be termed as a novel effort, the ticket checking squad of South Central Railway (SCR) travelled by road from Sitaphalmandi to Shadnagar Railway Station to apprehended ticket less travellers.  The Hyderabad Division of SCR conducted a fortress check and magisterial check on Friday.

Hyderabad: In what can be termed as a novel effort, the ticket checking squad of South Central Railway (SCR) travelled by road from Sitaphalmandi to Shadnagar Railway Station to apprehended ticket less travellers. The Hyderabad Division of SCR conducted a fortress check and magisterial check on Friday.

Catching ticketless travellers unawares by this method, the officials were able to book many. Officials reach the station before the train arrives and catch the ticket less travellers. A total of 360 persons were apprehended out of which 284 persons travelling without ticket, 76 cases of un-booked luggage were detected.

An amount of Rs. 1, 04,465/- was realised towards penalty during the check. During the Mega Fortress check conducted at Level Crossing Gate, Shadnagar from 06.00 hrs to 13.30 hrs on a large scale involving Divisional Commercial Manager assisted by 47 ticket checking squad personnel, 8 Inspectors of Commercial Branch, 21 Railway Protection Force (RPF) and 4 Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel of Kacheguda and Mahbubnagar sections of Hyderabad Division, SCR.

About 23 ticketless passengers were prosecuted with the help of the IInd Metropolitan Magistrate and 1st Class Magistrate for Railways, Secunderabad who attended a camp court conducted at Shadnagar.

The Mega Fortress checks & magisterial check,was conducted under the supervision of B D Christopher, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager & M S Sunil, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Hyderabad Division. The checks were carried out on advice of Chief Commercial Manager, C&PS, SCR.
