Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday instructed the police officials curb the menace of spurious seeds and food adulteration.During a review meeting held at Pragati Bhavan, the Chief Minister said the government was ready to bring in new laws for this purpose if the present Acts were not enough to deal with the situation. Farmers were suffering heavy loss due to spurious seeds.

KCR asked the officials to work out a strategy and come up with an action plan in next two days. He said the government would give more number of DNA kits to detect adulteration of food.

KCR said as the government felt that Gudumba and card playing were dangerous to the society, they should be eradicated. With the measures taken by the police the situation had come under control effectively. Now the police should focus on the problem of adulteration.

The police officials, from DGP to Station House Officer, should concentrate their attention on this and should take it as a challenge. In order to find out the dens of adulteration, the police should coordinate with the Agriculture officials.

Raids should be conducted, adulterators should be identified, and steps should be taken to award stringent punishment to the offenders. With the DNA kits adulteration of food should be detected, he said. He said the police should book cases of copy right violation and cheating on them.

If necessary they should not hesitate to book cases under Preventive Detention Act. He said in the undivided Andhra Pradesh Home Department was neglected.

The previous government had failed to construct building to house the police stations and as result the police station continued to be housed in dilapidated buildings, he said. After formation of Telangana, the State government has given priority to the law and order and provided funds.

Now the people appreciated the efforts made by the government as the peace prevailed in the State.There is a need to provide financial assistance to the victims of SC and ST cases and rapes. No delay should take place in this regard and collectors should release the funds as soon as police send proposals, the Chief Minister added.
