Hyderabad: Alleging that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was extending his support to the NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind only to come out of the CBI cases he was facing, Alampur Congress MLA S A Sampath Kumar has said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs were more than other parties’ MLAs ready to cast their vote for UPA candidate Meira Kumar.

Speaking at Assembly Media Hall here on Thursday, Sampath Kumar asked Chandrashekar Rao not to ‘mortgage’ the self-respect of Telangana people at the feet of the BJP by extending support to Ram Nath Kovind. He said the efforts of the then Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar in passing the Telangana Bill were unforgettable. The TRS MLAs and MPs should extend their support to Meira Kumar, he added.

Sampath Kumar said the TRS had no sincerity. He said he was trying to convince all political parties’ MLAs and MPs to extend their support to Meira Kumar. He also said it would be no wonder that over 90 per cent of public representatives might cast their votes for Meira Kumar following their conscience.
