With the drug racket causing a huge menace in Telangana, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari held a review meeting at Nampally on Sunday with Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of universities ahead of the commencement of the academic year.

Expressing displeasure over the functioning of universities, he directed the university officials to curb ragging and usage of drugs in campuses.

Kadiam Srihari further stated that the students should be availed quality education in Universities along with priority for research.

The Minister also informed that the government has sanctioned Rs 420 crore for the development of basic amenities in universities and the 1,550 regular teaching posts to be filled.
