Hyderabad: Character artiste P Subbaraju, who denied any knowledge of drug abuse in entertainment industry after receiving notices from the Special Investigation Team (SIT), is learnt to have provided vital information to the probe team.

Subbaraju, who arrived at the SIT office around 10 am, was grilled for over twelve hours. Sources said that during interrogation he revealed the names of 15 film personalities, including two from a family that is into films for decades.

It is learnt that SIT is gearing up to gather evidence against those actors and is likely to serve notices to them either on Monday or Tuesday. The SIT collected blood, hair and nail samples from Subbaraju.

Sources further said that the actor revealed information related to the parties sponsored by director Puri Jagannath, where drugs supplied through event managers close to the director were consumed.

According to sources, the noose is getting tighter around Jagannath, whose blood, hair and nail samples were collected on the first day of interrogations which began on Wednesday. Most of the questions being posed to the film personalities were said to be aimed at ascertaining whether Jagannath was helping drug peddlers.

Even cinematographer, Shyam K Naidu is said to have pointed finger at Jagannath for the spread of drug abuse in the industry. Sources said Subbaraju and Shyam would be named as witnesses to book a case against Jagannath for helping the drug peddlers in spreading the network.

Sources also said that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), which received the samples of blood, hair and nails of Puri Jagannath, has sent a reply to the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) doctors that they do not have the facility to carry out chemical analysis to find out whether Jagannath was habituated to use of drugs and whether he had consumed drugs in the last one month.

Sources said the FSL in its reply suggested to the OGH doctors to approach the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad, since it has the facility to carry out the chemical analysis of the kind requested by the OGH.

Meanwhile, Prohibition and Excise Enforcement Director Akun Sabharwal said actor Tarun would be grilled on Saturday and actress Mumaith Khan will appear before SIT on July 27.
