Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has announced that he would launch indefinite hunger strike from Saturday seeking government medical college in Karimnagar district.

Speaking to media persons in Vemulawada on Friday, Ponnam said that although the police have denied him permission to launch the hunger strike, he would go ahead with his plans. He said K. Chandrashekar Rao, on his first visit to Karimnagar as the Chief Minister, had promised to establish a medical college. However, he said that the promised remained unfulfilled even after three years.

Ponnam said that the Chief Minister not only sanctioned a medical college for his home district Siddipet, but also allocated huge funds. He said that the Karimnagar district had given full support to TRS in last elections. However, the Chief Minister shifted the medial college to Siddipet from Karimnagar by acting in a partisan manner.
