Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was God for farmers as he was offering complete help for farm works. Addressing a press conference at the TRS Legislature Party office on the Assembly premises here on Sunday, Srinivas Reddy extended congratulations to Chandrashekar Rao for bagging the National Agriculture Leadership Award 2017 by Swaminathan Committee.

“It is great that Chandrashekar Rao’s 36-month rule got such an award which was not given to any other Chief Minister in the combined Andhra Pradesh,” he said. Chandrashekar Rao was trying hard to resolve farmers’ crisis and overcome financial burden of loans and avoid suicides, he said. He attributed the award to the persistent efforts of the Chief Minister coining several welfare schemes for farmers, Srinivas Reddy said.

The Agriculture Minister said he was proud to be in the KCR Cabinet. The Central committee on agriculture had taken many factors into consideration before according such a big award to the Chief Minister, he said, adding that no other Chief Minister in the country had taken such a bold and daring step to provide Rs 4,000 per acre towards crop investment.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had already waived off Rs 17,000 crore crop loan and helped farmers heave a sigh of relief. The Agriculture Minister took a dig at the Congress for its trying to stall projects which were key for major irrigation and agriculture production.

Farmers had no difficulties now as the Chief Minister himself was monitoring their issues. The projects would not be stalled and be completed on a war-footing despite the Opposition’s efforts, he said.
