Warangal: Kakatiya Keerthi Thoranam, belonging to Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple at Inavolu near Warangal and which remained unnoticed for about 900 years, will soon be mounted at the temple.

The State Archaeology department has made plans in this regard. Rs 32.67 lakhs were sanctioned by the department for the purpose, according to official sources. It may be noted that the Keerthi Toranam made of rock with carvings was found among bushes on a hillock on the outskirts of the village in last November.

After its discovery, the State Archaeological department official S Sagar visited the location. Following the request from the temple officials to erect the thoranam, the archaeological officials submitted to higher-ups seeking permission for the purpose.

At present, there are two entrance gates on east and south sides of the temple while on north side rock pillars are erected. Now the thoranam found at the village would be installed on west side of the temple, believed to be built by a minister in Kakatiya realm, Ayyanna Deva during the 12th century.
