Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday stressed the need to ensure that the prestigious Bhagiratha project is completed at the earliest. He made it clear that drinking water should be made available to every household by December.

Reviewing the progress of works with his Cabinet colleagues and officials at Pragathi Bhavan, KCR underlined the importance of the project to ensure supply of potable water to the people. “We have taken up this challenge like no other State in the country had done and it is the responsibility of the elected representatives, officials and work agencies to work round-the-clock and coordinate to complete the project on schedule,” he said.

He recalled his vow that he would seek votes if his promise of supplying drinking water to every household was not fulfilled. He said the women were struggling to fetch potable water from far-off place.

The TRS government has embarked on the mission to ensure that a permanent solution was found to the problem.The Chief Minister said the government had allotted `43,000 crore for the project and it was determined to see that the project works are completed on scheduled.

He directed the people’s representatives to monitor and coordinate with the agencies engaged in executing the works.

Deputy Chief Ministers Mohd Mahmood Ali and Kadiyam Srihari, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Transport Minister Mahender Reddy, Housing Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Mission Bhagiratha Chairman V Prashant Reddy, MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao, M Kishan Reddy, Ch Rammohan Reddy, Sudhir Reddy, B Goverdhan Reddy, MP Captain Lakshmikantha Rao and officials were present.
