Hyderabad: The Osmania University Centre for International Programmes (OUCIP) is organizing a two-day national seminar on “Media, Politics and Higher Education” from August 29.

The introduction of media education has brought remarkable changes in the level of reception from the students. Especially, digitization of universities reduced both time and space in research. Multimedia and ICT proved to be effective tools in the world of education. The political climate in the higher education has been unstable in the recent past. Many untoward incidents have been witnessed in the academic corridors and media has played its role in bringing it to light. However the academia needs a strong support from media and politics to sustain its goals and establish itself as a hub of knowledge. The proposed seminar will focus on the impact of Media and politics in World of Education, according to an OU press release.

The convenor of this seminar is Prof. A. Karunaker, Director, OUCIP. Dr. T. Hanuman Chowdary, Editor, Bharatiya Pragna will be the Chief Guest will inaugurate the seminar at 10.00 a.m. in Auditorium of OUCIP. Dr. Madabhushi Sridhar Acharyulu, Commissioner, Central Information Commission, New Delhi will deliver a key note. Prof. M. Channa Basavaiah, Honorary Director, ICSSR, Southern Region Osmania University, Hyderabad will be the Guest of Honour Prof. S. Ramachandram, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University & President of this seminar will preside over the inaugural function.

Nearly 75 papers will be presented in parallel sessions by the eminent Professors and scholars from various universities and colleges from India. The seminar will offer a prominent platform to bring together scholars, academics, journalists, writers and critics in the domain of Media, Politics and Higher Education and as well as related multi-disciplinary areas to discuss and deliberate on issues and concerns in numerous areas. The seminar will contribute new research topics to the aspiring research scholars as there is greater need to examine the role of Media and Politics in Higher Education a fresh perspective.
