Hyderabad: Telangana-TDP is heading towards complete shutdown, if the reports emerging from the party are to be believed. Looking at bleak future, a majority of senior leaders at constituencies and districts-level have reportedly decided to bid adieu to the TDP. Most of them have been serving the party for a decade or more.

In the series of meetings held by T-TDP president L Ramana and working president A Revanth Reddy at NTR Trust Bhavan, the party headquarters, during the last three days, the second rung leaders poured out their woes they were facing in their constituencies. They are learnt to have told the party president that Telugu Desam’s base was eroding day by day in Telangana state.

‘Disgruntled’ TDP cadre had already shifted to TRS and Congress in the recent times. The leaders told the party high command that the agitations and party-related programmes conducted by the TDP were receiving lukewarm response from people at grass root level.

A senior most TDP leader told The Hans India that more than 60 per cent of the TDP leaders would quit the party anytime. The exodus of party leaders to other party would start from early 2018 and most of them are looking either at TRS or the BJP. At present, TDP is reasonably strong in the erstwhile Nalgonda, Mahbubagar, Warangal, Khammam and Adilabad districts where many senior leaders are still with the party. In the remaining five districts of Telangana, senior leaders and MLAs have shifted to TRS.

After huge migration to TRS during 2014 elections, the party developed new leadership at the level of assembly constituency and districts. With next elections less than two years away, many of the TDP leaders are looking for green pastures to make their political career before 2019 elections. It is learnt that many of the in-charges were already approached by ruling TRS and opposition BJP. Even the Congress is trying to poach some of them but the inclination of the TDP leaders is more towards the pink and saffron party, sources in TDP said.

Revanth Reddy and Ramana had brought to the notice of the party national committee president N Chandrababu Naidu about the threat of exodus of leaders to other parties in the coming months, according to sources. Even senior most leaders like Revuri Prakash Reddy, Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and others are also trying to jump the fence, a senior leader said.
