Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has won several awards and memorial cups in the Telangana Garden Festival 2017 conducted by the Stat government at Peoples’ Plaza here on Saturday. In all, the HMRL bagged six awards including Telangana Amaraveerula Memorial Cup for “Overall Innovative Theme of Garden Festival 2017” and Kurra Pullaiah Rolling Cup for “Landscaping and Beautification” of Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet.

Congratulating the Horticulture team led by S Sainath and Engineering wing led by B N Rajeshwar, HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy said it was commendable for a relatively new organization with limited areas for development of theme based gardens to win many awards. He also motivated them to contribute to the success of Haritha Haaram project in the city and overall beatification of the Metro Rail corridors by large scale plantation at the Metro station areas, central medians below the viaduct and in the nearby open spaces.

Awards won by HMRL in the Telangana Garden Festival 2017 are: Telangana Amaraveerula Memorial cup for overall innovative theme of garden festival for the year 2017, Kurra Pullaiah Rolling Cup for landscaping and beautification at Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet, First prize for creating green environment at Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet, First prize for beautification and restoring ecological balance in the central median under the viaduct between Nagole and Uppal, First prize for creating and sustaining green environment in HMRL Training Institute, Miyapur and Second prize for the beautification and creation of wayside gardens at Parade and Gymkhana Grounds, Secunderabad.
