Hyderabad: The State government has decided to design skill development programmes meant for the Scheduled Castes in such a way that they would be in a position to establish start-up companies and make them industry ready. According to the Telangana Scheduled Castes Cooperative Development Corporation Limited (TSCCDCL) officials, several schemes designed so far have only limited job prospects and are not conducive to take up self-employment initiatives by the beneficiaries.

The TSCCDCL has been providing training by roping in the National Academy of Construction (NAC) and nearly 40 beneficiaries are undergoing training in the second batch of training. Similarly, to provide training, the Corporation had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a corporate hospital group to provide a one-year training course in health technologies.

“Post training, those who underwent training could be absorbed by the group in their hospitals as lab technicians and similar jobs,” said a senior official of the Corporation. Apart from these initiatives, the TSCCDCL has also chalked out plans to provide skill development programmes in the areas identified as priority by the State government. For example, it has already roped in National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) to provide training so that the beneficiaries would take up jobs in tourism and hospitality sectors.
