State government decided to organise the proposed five-day ‘World Telugu Conference’ from December 15 in the city. In view of the World Tourism Congress and World Tourism Forum in October and November, government postponed the Telugu Conference to the last month of this year.

Hyderabad: State government decided to organise the proposed five-day ‘World Telugu Conference’ from December 15 in the city. In view of the World Tourism Congress and World Tourism Forum in October and November, government postponed the Telugu Conference to the last month of this year.

At a meeting with the officials concerned, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced the sanction of Rs 50 crore for organising the World Telugu Conference. The Telangana Sahitya Academy would be given Rs 5 crore and Official Language Commission would be given Rs 2 crore as organising expenses.

The Telangana Sahitya Academy would be the nodal agency for the Telugu summit. All eminent writers of Telugu and other languages, who won Sahitya Academy and Jnana Peeth Awards, would be invited. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu would be invited as Chief Guests for the programme.

Preparatory meetings would be held in the US, Europe, the Gulf, Mauritius, Singapore, and Malaysia. Meetings will also be held in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other States where Telugu population is high.

The conference would be held in LB Stadium as the main venue. Ravindra Bharathi, Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium, Lalitha kala Thoranam, Nizam College Grounds, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, PingleVenkatramreddy Hall, Shilpa Kala Vedika will host the other programmes.Literary events will be held during the day and cultural programmes will be held in the evening.

Dance by Gonds, Kolatam, Perini performances, songs like Kalupu, Naatu and Bathukamma, entertainment programmes will be the part of the cultural programmes. The relationship between Tanishah and Ramadasu, RamadasuPadakeerthanalu, ThandananaRamayanam, Saradakars, Harikatha recital will also be performed. Arrangementswould be made for recitation of poems, film light music programmes Cine Vibhavari. The folk songs of the rural region will also be organised at the programmes.
