Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar ordered the officials of departments concerned to make elaborate arrangements for Bathukamma festival that showcases the Telangana culture and tradition.

The Collector chaired a meeting with the district officials to discuss the arrangements to be made for Bathukamma festival to be held from September 20 to 28, here at Pragna Conferene Hall in Khammam on Wednesday.

Addressing the meeting, the Collector ordered the officials to make arrangements for Bhatukamma on a grand note reflecting the Telangana culture and tradition. “Decorate all main centres and government offices with lights along with making arrangements which tell about the significance of the festival,” ordered the Collector.

“Celebrations must be organised on September 20, by City Municipal Corporation and MEMPA Departments, on 21 by Women and Child Development Department, on 22 by Medical and Health Department, on 23 by Police, Excise, Fire and Transport Departments,” he added.

He also ordered the officials of all departments of Collectorate complex to conduct the celebrations on September 24 on the premises of Collectorate. And to conduct celebrations on September 26, by PDDRDO and Welfare Bhavan, on 27 by Zilla Parishad, Mining, Agriculture, Panchayat Raj and Education departments and on the final day on September 28, grand arrangements must be made by all the departments at Sardar Patel Stadium for concluding the celebration on a grand note, informed the Collector. The Dwcra group women, ASHA workers and Anganwadi teachers must participate actively in the celebrations, ordered the Collector.

“Take necessary steps at immersion points for immersion of Goddess Durga idols along with providing lighting and water facilities,” suggested the Collector.

Essay writing, drawing and painting competitions to the students must be held in the schools signifying the importance of the festival, advised the Collector.

District Joint Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy, City Municipal Commissioner B Srinivas, District Rural Development Agency Project Director Muralidhar Rao, Chief Planning Officer Z Ramdas, ZP Deputy Chief Executive Officer Shirisha, Rural Development Officer Purnachandra, District Civil Supply Officer M Srinivas Rao, District Panchayat Officer K Srinivas Reddy, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Kondal Rao, District Educational Officer Vijay Lakshmi Bai and Tahsildar G Sri Latha were present along with others.
