Hyderabad : GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has directed the officials to stop using air-conditioners in the corporation's offices till February next year in view of ongoing winter session.

The GHMC Commissioner said there were 137 air-conditioners in corporation's circle and zonal offices and each of them consumed three units of power per hour. By not using ACs till February 2018, the corporation would be able to save Rs. 3,75,900 per month. He reminded that the GHMC was in the process of replacing all street lights with LEDs to save power. Of 4.65 lakh streetlights, so far 3.20 lakh bulbs have been replaced with LED which saved nearly 50% of power bills.
