Padmavati, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is heading for release on December 1. However, the movie is garnering a lot of unwanted attention over the portrayal of the Rajput community. While several Rajput organizations have been staging protests against the movie, now another has joined in.

BJP MLA from Hyderabad, T Raja Singh threatened to burn down any theater in Telangana that screened Padmavati as it is not showing the true history and asked his supporters to spread the message to oppose the movie.

Speaking at a Diwali Milan programme, Raja Singh addressed a meeting of Rajasthan Rajput Samaj in Secunderabad on Sunday where he accused Sanjay Leela Bhansali of deliberately distorting history and historical figures.

He even dared the director make films on Prophet Muhammad and Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.

The BJP PLA said there were reports that the movie shows Rani Padmavati in love with Muslim invader Allauddin Khiji but the fact was the latter had attacked Chittorgarh, causing more than 16,000 women to self-immolate (Jauhar).

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
