Hyderabad: Firing his first salvo from the Congress launch pad on the Chief Minister on Monday, former Telugu Desam working president and currently Congress leader A Revanth Reddy said the government had neglected the martyrs of Telangana movement.

In an open letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Revanth said even though 40 months had gone by since the formation of the government, procuring details of about 1,569 martyrs of Telangana movement had been neglected. He said though the families of martyrs had been submitting letters to District Collectors seeking help, the government had not taken any action.

Mentioning a case of a martyr from Nizamabad district Sai Goud, he said that Goud committed suicide on March 10, 2011, with the anguish of failing to attend Million March.The Nizamabad police filed a case in this regard, he said, adding that the youngster died for Telangana. His sister Prasanna had been waiting for the help of the government for the past three-and-a--half years, Revanth said.

He said Prasanna had submitted a representation to the District Collector on January 1, 2017 and the Collector forwarded the letter to the Principal Secretary, but there was no response from the government. Revanth forwarded the copies of these letters to the Chief Minister along with the open letter.
