Hyderabad police had detained the beggars ahead of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) hosted in the city.

The Summit was attended by several dignitaries and foreign delegates including Advisor to the US President Donald Trump Ivanka Trump along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The crackdown on the homeless began ahead on Ivanka Trump’s to Hyderabad with those found on the streets shifted to Anand Ashram near the Chanchalguda prison and Cherlapally prison.

Now, as the event has wrapped, the beggars have returned to the streets of Hyderabad.
The police are planning to launch the operation again and the officials revealed that the beggars were released after taking their fingerprints and photos.
If they are caught again begging in the city, the beggars would be arrested under Prevention of Begging Act 1977 with an imprisonment ranging from six months to five years.
