Bhadrachalam: About 350 teachers and lovers of literature from this district have left for Hyderabad to attend the World Telugu Conference (WTC), Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu stated here on Friday. Free buses have been provided for their travel, with DPRO Srinivas Rao being entrusted with the responsibility.

Hanumanthu stated that December 15 and 16 have been declared as holidays for government employees attending the WTC. The employees could treat the two days as being ‘on duty’.

Written instructions had been issued to officials to make available seven buses—four from Kothagudem, two from Bhadrachalam and one from Manuguru RTC bus depots. The respective depot managers, headed by DVM Krishna, had arranged the vehicles.

Two additional buses were arranged after discussions with the Tourism Secretary to accommodate additional Telugu lovers from the district interested in taking part in WTC.

Later, DPRO Srinivas Rao flagged off the Hyderabad-bound buses at the Collectorate. The buses from the Kothagudem depot would travel via Dammapet and Palvoncha.

The Collector said officials had been appointed specifically for coordinating the routes to be followed, parking of buses and entry to the venue -- LB Stadium.
