Hyderabad: The special book exhibition organised at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium on the occasion of World Telugu Conference garnered good response from the denizens on Saturday. It was organised by the Hyderabad Book Fair Society on the directions of the State government. Of all the 60 stalls set up, 52 stalls were regarding books and the remaining featured handicrafts, handlooms, authentic Telangana delicacies etc.

Members of society displayed a large number of books on Telugu and Telangana literature. Speaking to The Hans India Kista Reddy, coordinator of Hyderabad Book Fair Society said the visitors showed interest in Telugu literature, books on Telangana movement and etc. “The book exhibition was inaugurated by K Kavitha, MP of Nizamabad on Friday. On day one around 50,000 visitors visited the stalls.

Discounts ranging between 10 per cent and 50 per cent are offered for all the purchases made at the exhibition. On first day around Rs 2 lakh business was done,” he said. Author of Savitri and M S Subbulakshmi, Pallavi said the book stalls were an addition value to the World Telugu Conference.

Speaking to media, Hyderabad Book Fair Society President Juluru Gouri Shankar said the book exhibition received good reception from the public and delegates of WTC. The books stalls displayed books on Telangana culture, Literature, novels, details of the world, mythology, Indian Ramayana, Bhagavatham, Vedas, Pedda Balashiksha, Bhagavad Gita and the history of two Telugu States.

Gourishankar requested the DEO of Hyderabad to issue a circular to all schools to make sure children visit the book stalls. He also said the books had played key role in the Telangana movement. MLC Naradasu Laxmana Rao, Hyderabad Book Fair Society secretary K Chandra Mohan, Brahmam and Ramadasu, Secretary, National B.Ed and D.ED college principals Association participated in the press meet.
