The Communist Party of India (Maoist) have made a statement available to the media in Hyderabad accusing Jinugu Narasimha Reddy, a senior Naxalite leader who surrendered himself to the Telangana police recently of trying to cover up his weakness by taking shelter under the disguise of ‘ideological differences with the party line’.

Terming him a renegade, as he chose to surrender to the enemy, the Maoist party also disclosed that he was suspended for two years from the Central Committee and ordered to guide a State Committee, which meant a demotion.

Known popularly as Jampanna, he has spent over three decades in the underground as the member of CPI (Maoist) Central Committee.

The Maoist movement received a huge blow with his surrender as the party is currently going through a tough phase in the country, as per the party’s admission in recent documents.

The three-page typewritten statement traces the rise of Jampanna from an ordinary party member to the level of the Central Committee in 2001.

Dubbing him as a leader who suffered from ‘serious weaknesses, limitations and trends like individualism, bureaucracy and false prestige’, Jampanna finally informed the party in November 2017 regarding his decision to surrender.

Earlier this year, the party had decided to suspend him from the Central Committee with the statement disclosing Jampanna’s refusal to take up the responsibility of a State committee the CC had assigned to him.

Accusing him of raising political differences with the party particularly whenever his suspension issue was raised, the party said that his disagreements on the ideologies of the party he raised with his comrades are nothing but cover up of his degeneration.

The CC spokesperson Abhay asserted that the party would continue to strive for the revolution irrespective of hurdles including the surrender of senior cadres.
