Hanamkonda: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari wanted irrigation officials to take a cue from Pakhal cheruvu (tank), an engineering marvel of Kakatiya times, before they gear up for the fourth phase of Mission Kakatiya (MK), the State government’s flagship programme aimed at restoring minor irrigation tanks, including revival of chain-link tank system.
He directed the officials to complete the paperwork, including estimates and administrative sanctions, at the earliest and call for tenders for the restoration of 708 tanks spread across the erstwhile Warangal district under phase-IV.
The officials were told to chalk out a schedule so that they could ensure the work progress. The Deputy CM also directed the Joint-Collectors and irrigation officials to conduct reviews at regular intervals.
While taking stock of the pending works under all three phases, he told the officials to take them to the notice of their respective collectors. He assured that he will take care of the issues that needed the intervention of minister concerned. Srihari stressed the need for organising a workshop for the irrigation engineers so that they could update with the changing times. He also emphasised that taking irrigation engineers on a study tour of Pakhal cheruvu could be helpful for them.
Referring to the shortage of data entry operators and work inspectors, the Deputy CM assured that the problem will be taken to the notice of the minister concerned. Mahabubabad MP A Sitaram Naik stressed the need for quick completion of works related to Ramappa cheruvu beautification and the check dam across the Jampanna vagu.
