Govt employees say goodbye to Collectorate building
It is common to bid farewell to the employees either retiring from services or transferred to other place of work, but in contrast an adieu is bid to Warangal urban district Collectorate which is going to be pulled down soon.
Hanamkonda: It is common to bid farewell to the employees either retiring from services or transferred to other place of work, but in contrast an adieu is bid to Warangal urban district Collectorate which is going to be pulled down soon.
Telangana Revenue Employees Association has on Sunday organised a farewell meeting to say good-bye to the building, which is going to be replaced by a new structure. The employees currently working and worked in the past have gathered at the collectorate building and bid rather emotional farewell.
The meeting was attended by Warangal urban in-charge Collector S Dayanand, Employees JAC leaders P Subba Rao, K Rajesh Kumar, A Jaganmohan Rao and several other senior officials. They shared their work experiences at the collectorate with each other.
Several employees who spoke at the farewell meeting wanted the government to retain the structure, which is strong enough to stand for many more years to come and planning to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
However, the in-charge Collector Dayanand said decision was already made to dismantle the building and nothing could be done now. The government is planning to build a modern structure in the place of old one and everyone should welcome it, he noted.
The government office buildings are located at different places throughout the Warangal city. Since it is causing inconvenience to public the government has decided to bring all the district government offices to a single location, he added.
The State government has decided to construct a new integrated Warangal Urban district collectorate complex at the existing office site at Subedari in Hanamkonda with an expenditure of Rs 35.38 crores.
On January 24 the Deputy Chief MinisterKadiyam Srihari along with Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, Ministers T Nageswara Rao and E Rajendar laid the foundation stone for the new building for Collectorate. With that the Warangal urban district Collectorate is now going to be shifted to Social Welfare Boys’ Hostel premises temporarily at Julaiwada in Hanamkonda on Monday and will start functioning fully from Tuesday onwards. Dayanand on Sunday said the grievance cell meeting scheduled to be held on Monday has been cancelled and the public could attend the meeting on February 26 at the temporary Collectorate.
