Hyderabad : The Telangana Government on Monday held a meeting with the bankers and insurance companies to review the status of reconciliation of insurance details for 2017-18, Hailstorm damage and for implementation of PMFBY for 2018-19.

The Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department, SLBC Convener, SBI, Andhra Bank, APGVB, TSCOB and Insurance Companies Representative have attended the meeting.

Insurance companies and Bankers were requested to complete the reconciliation process of insured farmers details of 2017-18 by end of the April’18. Bankers were requested to register all the bank branches of the concerned banks in the new crop insurance portal which is operationalized recently by the GOI.

The APC & Principal Secretary has directed the Insurance companies to complete the survey of the hailstorm affected insured formers fields to access the loss and to compute the claims immediately without further delay. Further insurance companies were requested to work out and furnish the financial liability of the State Govt., so that claims can be given to the affected insured farmers at the earliest. And a meeting is scheduled next week with the insurance companies to finalize the claims for the hailstorm affected insured farmers.

The Notification for implementation of the PMFBY was issued on April 17 and the selected implementing companies were requested to gear up to enroll more number of loanee and non loanee farmers, to deploy sufficient staff at District level, to liaison with the Bankers and DAOs, to take up publicity drive in the villages, to print suitable literature. It is also decided to conduct a workshop in the 1st fortnight of May’18 with the bankers, insurance companies, State Govt., officials and GOI officials on the new crop insurance portal developed by the GOI as it is mandatory to upload all the details of the insured farmers in the portal and also to discuss various issues relating to enrolment of farmers in the ensuing Kharif.
