Hyderabad: Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy is allegedly keeping away from the third phase of Praja Chaitanya Yatra of the Congress in the State. According to sources, Revanth Reddy is upset with the leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and decided to be away from the yatra.

Revanth did not attend any meeting of the third phase of yatra in the past one week. Sources in the party said that he was not invited to the yatra by the TPCC leaders. Revanth said that he was too busy with his upcoming tour to the US and is busy with the arrangements to obtain Visa. He was unable to attend the party programmes in the last two weeks due to his preoccupations. Party leaders said that a gap had taken place between Revanth and the Congress leaders in the past two weeks after the former’s comments on the affairs of the party and about the leaders.

Several senior Congress leaders lodged complaints with the high command on the attitude of Revanth and this irked the firebrand leader. With this he started to maintain some distance, sources said. In an informal chat with the media, during the second week of this month, Revanth said that the party was ill advised and the TPCC president did not have the support of a good strategist. His advises were not heeded and he was not given enough importance in the party. Revanth went on to say that his ambition was to become the Chief Minister of the State and would occupy that office in future. This had raised the hackles of several senior Congress leaders.

According to sources Revanth was angry with the Congress party for not giving a good post to him. He wanted to become the lead campaigner for the party and he needed a high post for that. According to sources, Chairman of Campaign Committee would be a suitable post for him as that would help him lead the campaign of the Congress in the State. However, though six months have passed after his joining of the Congress, the post was not offered. Reportedly party is offering working president post to him.

Revanth also planned to make State-wide Pada Yatra and sought the permission from the high command. This request too was rejected by the high command of the party as other senior leaders also wanted permission for the same programme and he was told to confine his Pada Yatra to Mahbubnagar district. Sources in the party said that Revanth wanted to rise in the party and to become top leader of the State Congress. But his ambitions were nipped in the bud by the other senior leaders of the party.
