Khammam: Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal on Thursday ordered the police personnel to make tight security arrangements to conduct of Ganesh immersion in a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere under the Commissionerate limits.

The top cop chaired a meeting with the police officials in connection with two major festivals Moharrum and Ganesh Idols immersion here at the Special Branch conference hall in the city.

The Police Commissioner said that for the first time in the district, the department is using modern technology to keep a watch on 2,737 Ganesh pandals that were established under Commissionerate limits and for keeping the law and order under control. He said all the Ganesh pandals are geo-tagged.

All the information about the Ganesh pandals and activities that are taking place in their surroundings are displayed in the tabs which are interlinked and handed over to the patrolling and Blue Colts team members, he informed.

The officials of the Police, Revenue, R&B, Electricity, and Medical and Health departments in coordination with each other must make elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the two festivals—Moharrum, which is celebrated on September 21 and Ganesh idols immersion on September 23- ordered the top cop Tafseer Iqbal.

He also directed the officials to arrange huge cranes, barricades and establish Police Control Room at the immersion points besides installing CCTV cameras.

Additional DCP Muralidhar, AR Additional DCP Shyam Sundar, Town ACP Venkatrao, Rural ACP Ramoji Ramesh, Wyra ACP Prasanna Kumar, CCS ACP Eshwaraiah, DCRB ACP Ramanujam, Sampath Kumar, Circle Inspectors and Sub-inspectors among other officials attended the meetings.
