Hyderabad: The official team of Election Commission of India (ECI) will embark on second visit to the State from September 30 to ascertain the preparedness of the State for early elections.

A delegation, led by Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Singha, already conducted a visit to the State in September second week.

State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar said that during the visit, the EC officials would review the status of special summery revision of electoral rolls besides the chances of holding elections at the earliest with State officials.

The official team is also likely to meet the representatives of political parties and clarify the doubts raised on the deletion of nearly 30 lakh votes in the State.

The main opposition Congress has been demanding the Commission to order a probe into the whole episode.

Rajat said that the voter enrolment drive launched on September 10 would come to an end on Tuesday.

The final electoral rolls would be published on October 8. Informing that the functioning of Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) was being examined, the CEO said the defaulted machines would be rectified ensuring no technical errors are reported at the time of voting.

Over 52,100 EVMS and 32,590 VVPATs were procured for the conduct of Assembly elections and all the machines were stored in the identified high security places, he added.
