Kukatpally: The second edition of ‘Save the young hearts’ 5krun concluded successfully with an overwhelming response of over 2000 participating for 5K Run held on Sunday at Kaitalapur Ground, Kukatpally. Save the young heart campaign is an initiative which strives to prevent heart ailments in the younger generation of this era and is being run since the last 3 years in Hyderabad by cardiac surgeon Dr Anand Agarwal.

The aim of this campaign is to increase awareness about the incidences of coronary artery disease in the youth. Dr Agarwal is seeing in his practice that he must operate on a lot of patients in the age group of 30-40 years, and these are the only lucky ones who can reach the operating table in time; a lot of people cannot even live long enough to see the lights of the ambulance. The reason for this exponential increase in heart disease is because of the earlier onset of diabetes, hypertensions and disordered life style. This 5k run is an attempt to create awareness about walking and running to keep fit and avoid the heart diseases.
