Farmers jubilant as Godavari water to reach Penpahad tomorrow

Suryapet: At last Godavari water is going to reach Penpahad mandal of Suryapet through Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) on Saturday. Farmers of Bibi Gudem of Chivemla mandal has given Jala Harathi as the water entered in the mandal on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering, Minister Jagadish Reddy said that decades old dream of Penpahad farmers would be realized in a couple of days. He further said that he is very happy in providing irrigation facility to farmers of Penpahad mandal, who suffered a lot for irrigation facility for years.

Actually the tunnel works were halted midway by the previous government as a huge rock came in the way of original plan apart from a pipeline of HP and GAIL, which are passing through very adjacent to the tunnel at Dharmapuram village in Penpahad mandal.

With the initiation of minister Jagadish Reddy, the State government under repairing of canals of SRSP with estimated cost of Rs 250 crore to provide irrigation facility to Tungaturhi, Suryapet and Kodad constituencies.

The tunnel work has completed in Dharmapuram, the water through SRSP canal will reach the Penpahad on Saturday realizing the long pending dream of farmers. As many as 10,000 farmers would benefit with Godavari waters in Penpahad mandal
