Mahbubnagar: As the rumours are doing round that the Mahakutami will allot the Mahbubnagar seat to TDP, internal fighting has already began in the Congress party in the district with the recent outburst of MP Venkatesh, a local Congress party worker who demanded tickets should be given to only locals.

Venkatesh, has even gone to the extent of warning the party higher-ups that if the high command goes against the wishes of the party workers then they will be forced to put an independent candidate to contest from the district.

Already Congress party office has received 16 applications from the candidates seeking the party ticket for Mahbubnagar MLA seat. While speaking to the media, Venkatesh said, “we have been hearing that Mahbubnagar ticket is being given to other party’s candidates as part of Mahakutami. We will never accept this and will fight against such a decision until the party considers a local candidate from within the party to contest Mahabubnagar seat.”

The Congress leaders expressed concern that even before the high command has declared the probable candidates list; some people from TDP are already giving wide publicity that Mahbubnagar seat has been allocated to TDP’s Yerrasekhar as part of alliance.

Pointing out at TDP’s Yerrasatyam and Mohammad Ibrahim, who joined the Congress party from TRS recently, Venkatesh said, “There are many senior leaders in the Congress like Obedulla Kotwal, district president of Congress, who is working for more than 30 years for the party. But now a few leaders who have come recently into the party recently are claiming MLA tickets.

This kind of wrong publicity cause grave damage to the party. Therefore the higher-ups in the party must take careful decisions in the interest of party’s future,” said Venkatesh.
